ABOUT ME
As a child I would watch my Grandmother sew and
I was fascinated by the items she was creating. My Grandmother would mend and alter clothes, make curtains and cushions for people in the neighbourhood. During those years money was short and people had to « make do and mend », so my Grandmother was never short of sewing work. I remember the first time my Grandmother allowed me to use her hand Singer sewing machine. She had cut up an old bed sheet into squares and I seamed the edges to make handkerchiefs for my Father. I was so proud and excited to present the hand-kerchiefs to my Father when he came home from work that day. I still have that very same sewing machine today (along with modern machines) and I treasure it as it reminds me of happy sewing days all those years ago. My Grandmother was a true inspiration for me as she taught me to enjoy the love of sewing.
I have always made or altered clothes for myself, my family and friends and my business is growing
all the time. I have made soft furnishings for many and altered curtains to fit.
My most recent projects have been altering bridal
gowns. Also, the Mother of the bride's costume, brides-maid dresses and shortened the groom's and ushers trousers, all to make everyone look perfect on their wedding day. Not everyone has a standard shape or height for « off the peg » clothes, with my expertise
